The Congress party said on Saturday that the INDIA bloc would decide as a group whether to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's and his council of ministers' Sunday evening oath-taking ceremony.
The Rajya Sabha MP and the general secretary of the Congress Working Committee, K C Venugopal, declared during a meeting that "the INDIA bloc will collectively take the decision on attending the ceremony."
Senior Congressman Jairam Ramesh, meanwhile, delivered a scathing jab at Prime Minister Modi and the Bhartiya Janata Party, stating that the opposition leaders have not yet received invites to the swearing-in event and that only world leaders have been invited.
The swearing-in event is only open to leaders of the world community. The invitation hasn't reached our leaders yet. We will consider it if and when our INDIA bloc leaders receive the invitation," he stated.
Presidents Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka, Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives, Ahmed Afif of Seychelles, Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of Mauritius, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, often known as "Prachanda," of Nepal, and Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan have all been invited by India.
MEA reports that the leaders would attend a dinner at Rashtrapati Bhavan that evening, hosted by President Murmu, in addition to taking part in the swearing-in event.

Meanwhile, a motion asking Rahul Gandhi to become the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha was overwhelmingly approved by the Congress Working Committee.
"Everyone present concurred that Rahul need to assume the role of LoP. We brought up concerns of social justice, women's equality, price increases, and unemployment during the elections. More has to be done to bring these topics up in Parliament.
Venugopal stated that Rahul was the ideal candidate to spearhead this movement within Parliament.
